Cooperative Bios from Visoko has just launched web platform eBios.ba, in order to establish regular deliveries of fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as quality jams and juices, to the Sarajevo market. Municipalities covered with this delivery are Stari Grad, Centar, Novo Sarajevo, Novi Grad, and Ilidža.
Director Elvira Kadric says that this project has been in progress for the past few months and that the situation with the Corona Virus (COVID-19) has accelerated activities to help citizens easier purchase fresh fruits and vegetables during this period. “We have adjusted to the situation and our vehicles have been additionally disinfected, and the delivery personnel uses adequate protective equipment, masks and gloves. Delivery is made in several terms, in agreement with the customers.”
This innovation was supported by the Sweden/USAID FARMA II project, whose employees were among the first to test the quality of service and products. Velibor Trifkovic, Fruit & Vegetable Sector Lead at FARMA II project, emphasizes that the complete distribution chain is currently facing a major challenge, and believes that home delivery of fresh foods will help overcome the situation, especially when it comes to elderly people whose mobility is restricted. “This year will be very challenging for the fruit and vegetable sector, both for sales and exports. It is good that we have solutions that will respond to current circumstances and facilitate customer supply, but it is also very important that we make it easier for hard-working producers to reach the market, and this platform is one of the examples.”
The cooperative also underlines that the platform enables secure online payment by card, which means that customers can order a basket of products and it will be delivered to the specified address - for example: to older family members who just need to pick up the shipment. Director Kadrić adds: “We pay great attention to the quality of our products and we work on expanding our offer. Our goal is to improve this distribution channel and to facilitate our cooperants with the placement of their products. Delivery is free of charge to the customer's door, with a minimum order value of BAM 15. We are also currently developing an android application."
Cooperative Bios from Visoko is well known in our market for their production of greenhouses, as well as for the large number of cooperants involved in greenhouse production. It is one of the leaders in the fruit and vegetable sector since it engages over 1,000 cooperants, and is also known for the fact that 50% of its cooperants are women.
