The congress gathers more than 200 beekeepers, agricultural producers, representatives of the academic community, food and pharmaceutical industries, and state institutions from eight countries including, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Turkey.

SARAJEVO, November 20, 2020 – The 5th Congress of Beekeeping and Bee Products opened today in Tuzla, mostly in an online format.

The congress gathers more than 200 beekeepers, agricultural producers, representatives of the academic community, food and pharmaceutical industries, and state institutions from eight countries including, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Serbia, Slovenia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and Turkey.

Its goal is to unite all those participants into a single value chain that will contribute to the development of beekeeping in BiH and the region, and increase its productivity and the overall quality of bee products.

The congress will include the presentation of 38 academic and expert papers on topics ranging from the protection of bees and plants, standardization of honey production and quality controls, and production of bee feed and value-added bee products, to legislation and models of support for beekeepers.

The Sweden/USAID FARMA II project supported the organization of the event and the publishing of the Book of Abstracts and Full Papers from the fifth congress. The book will be made available in hard and soft copy to the congress participants and wider beekeeping and academic communities and relevant industries and institutions. The FARMA II project also took part in the past congresses and supported their organization.

The congress will last for two days. It is organized by the Association for Nutrition and Dieting “Hranom do Zdravlja” from Tuzla, Technological Faculty of Tuzla University, Faculty of Food Technology of Josip Juraj Strossmayer University from Osijek, Croatia, Polytechnic of Požega, Croatia, and Multi Lab d.o.o. from Tuzla that is hosting the event.
