BOSANSKA KRUPA, August 14, 2020 – The Association of Beekeepers Lipa, the Bosanksa Krupa Municipality, and the Public Utility Company JKP “10. juli” opened today the 11th traditional Bosanska Krupa Honey Fair. The Sweden/USAID FARMA II project supported them in the organization of the event that is taking place in line with all the pandemic curtailing measures.

The exhibitors at the fair are members of the Lipa association, which brings together more than 100 beekeepers and supports their work. In late-June, FARMA II supported the association to train and equip its 30 members for product diversification.

"Thanks to the support of the Sweden/USAID FARMA II project, 30 of our members have increased their honey yields and can now collect, process and store royal jelly, pollen, propolis, and wax, using the project provided equipment. In addition, they started producing different value-added products by mixing honey with other bee products, medicinal herbs, and dried fruit," said Hajrudin Šabić, President of the Lipa association.

“Some of our members also started producing honey-based cosmetics, and all these products are being promoted at the fair. We invite all those who can to come to the fair and try and buy our new products.”

The fair will last for three days, August 14-16, running from 9:00 to 18:00 hrs.

The Sweden/USAID FARMA II project supports the development of five sectors of agriculture in BiH, including dairy, poultry, fruit and vegetables, medicinal and aromatic plants, and honey. It is helping agricultural producers to improve the quality of their products, increase production, and implement standards necessary for the export of food to the EU and other international markets. It is also helping institutions in BIH to improve the agriculture regulatory framework and practices and to align them with the EU acquis.
